A charge line item will be added to the SO or WO Task. Using the core stock line, it will determine which life metric (hours/cycles/calendar) to use in the charge calculations based on which metric has the least % life remaining. It will then compare the difference in the life metric between the core and exchange stock line; the absolute value difference will be the charge quantity (if it is a credit, the price will be negative). The charge will always be zero cost; cost would have either already been handled in the normal WIP or normal SO exchange process.
The unit price on the charge will be the part master list price divided the total life limit of the chosen life metric.

New “Unrealized Repair distribution has been added in GL Setup > Default Distributions to serve as default if COGS distribution is not set on the above Repair Charge code.
A new BOM Exchange Reconciliation management screen has been added to the Work Order drop-down menu. At the end of the system exchange process, the repair costs have to be manually recognized using accounting journal entries. Unreconciled items appear on the BOM Exchange Reconciliation management screen. The user then flags the items that have been reconciled and those items disappear from the screen.
On the BOM Edit screen, a new Exchange tab has been added for the new System Exchange disposition. On this tab:
Exchange Status shows whether it is reconciled or not (as in the management screen above). The Repair Charge group box displays the values that will be used to automatically create a charge code on the task when the exchanged part is issued. Cost will default to Ovhl Cost in the Exchange group box on the part master. Price will default to the cost plus the markup% in the WO Setting described above. When the charge has actually been added, these values become un-editable.
Better/Worsement functionality is in T4098, it is a display section here. For either charge (Repair or Better/Worsement), when the charge actually exists on the WO, an edit button appears in each box to open the charge item.
For this new System Exchange disposition, if the part is a life-limited part, when the exchange stock line is issued, it will auto-cost the turn-in stock line. Based on the life limits of the master part, and the time remaining on the issue stock line, the life metric (hours/cycles or calendar) with the least life remaining in % terms will be determined and used for cost calculations. The issue unit cost will be divided by the issue life metric remaining to get the cost per cycle/hour/day. The cost will then be multiplied by the turn-in life remaining to get the turn-in unit cost. If it is greater than the issue cost, then the Turn-In cost will be capped off at the issue cost. (10.6.1) - [T4092] New ‘Validate Sales Category as profit center” check box on the Quotes/Billings tab in WO Control Setup. - [T4093] New Parts Billing Method “Parts Price Lines” added tobilling groups. If this option is selected, the BOM sell price updates based on the price line. Price line is matched by part number master and part condition code. Only one price line can be set up for each part number and part condition code combination. If there is not a priceline match, no update is made and the sell price is zero for that BOM item. (10.6.1)
- [T4094] New column “PO#” on the Mark-Up Band browse/Flag items window accessed from the Global > Pricing menu of the WO/WP Quote and Billing screens. If the part that was issued is linked to a PO, the PO# will display in this column. If multiple POs are linked, the field will display “MULTIPLE”. (10.6.1)
- [T4098] On the Exchange tab of the Inventory Module Settings, a charge code for ‘Better/Worsement’ can now be set. The presence or absence of this charge code setting drives the functionality. Applies only to life limited parts.
Available for Type 1 or 2 SO Exchanges when a core is received/voided and for WOs/WPs where the new BOM activity/disposition “System Exchange” option is selected and stock is issued.
Void core receiving (SO) or Undo Issue (WO/WP) should automatically delete the charge code.
Actually billing the charge code to the customer is always up to a user. (10.6.1) - [T4139] The Task Sequence field now allows non-numeric characters, i.e. period (.) and dash (-).
